Laptops for Games - Important Features

Thursday 14 May 2009

Gaming laptops are a very common on the market these days. The gaming laptop is the biggest news in gaming circles today. Most people love games and would not let a day pass without touching their games.Around the globe, some of the most popular computer games people enjoy are Grand Theft Auto, Burnout Paradise, Call of Duty, Warcraft, Fallout 3 and Halo.

We all satisfy our gaming desires with these laptops. These laptops are very portable which makes them conducive for playing games since they can be carried to whichever place one is going. There are a lot of factors we would want to consider when purchasing a gaming laptop since no one would want to buy a white elephant product.

RAM Memory

Getting a good RAM memory is one of the most necessary characteristics for gaming as this is a determining factor because when it is small in size the computer might freeze whiles you are enjoying your game. This is because there are very large programs that occupy large space when installed on your computer. When you are looking for raw barely contained gaming horsepower you have to consider RAM sizes of at least 2GB. It is best to consider a RAM size of about 4GB.

Combination of Graphics

The best laptop for gaming, will have the best, quickest and latest possible graphics. High quality graphics are good for gaming computers especially when it comes to games with in which graphics play an important role. One other thing that must be considered is that the graphics card can be upgraded when the need arises. Some of the best graphic card chipsets include, NVIDIA, Intel's Graphics Media, Trident S3, STMicro, 3D Labs,ATi Mobility Radeon 9700, Matrox, and SIS.

VRAM Memory

It is important to take a careful look the computers dedicated video RAM (VRAM) which usually comes with a graphics card and has its own memory in MB which includes 32MB, 64MB, and 128MB.

Processor Speed

The best gaming laptop has high CPU speed. This can prevent your computer from being frozen especially when you're in the mid-way enjoying your game.Nothing is more annoying than to be in the middle of a game and have the computer freeze or crash. One of the best processors today is Intel Core 2 Duo.

Screen Display

The screen display is an important factor to consider for gaming laptops. A larger the screen display resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels (2,304,000 pixels) with a 16:10 screen aspect ratio gives you an interesting gaming experience.
If you want to buy a gaming computer those factors you are supposed to consider are RAM, screen display, processor's speed and good graphics combination.

The Future of Cell Phones

Thursday 16 April 2009

Do you remember the old days when a cell phone was simply use to make calls? it wasn't that long ago was it. But, the technology has moved on such a quick pace over the past two years is just so hard to keep up to the major advancements that have been made in our communication needs.

A cell phone can now come with a camera, WiFi, GPS, music player, blogging software, TV output, games and so much more we could be here all day writing about it. It's amazing even with a simple thing like a camera you can take a photograph on one side of the world and send it to the other side of the world moments later. We have all seen video clips on the likes of YouTube and even news bulletins that have been taken with a mobile phone and uploaded almost moments after the event.

This is where we have come in 25 years in the next 25 years of the cell phone communications industry looks even brighter. At a fast pace that many of us live our lives would require information at your fingertips almost instantly and the cell phone is the ideal device just for this. Many countries already have TV on demand available on mobile phones this is an area as the network service providers rolled out faster speed networks will probably explode in the next few years.

The problem you have at the moment is to speed off the data transfer is quite slow on many networks could be assured in the future with the introduction of 3G and even 4G networks this will change very quickly.

When another area that I can see exploding in the next few years is cell phones with built-in projectors. We have already seen some demonstration models coming out of China and the display resolution and the fact that you can now show what's on your mobile phone projected onto a wall in a bigger format has obviously lots of potential for business users and for general consumer use. From a business point of view being able to present a presentation from your phone that has just been e-mailed to you has lots of advantages. From the consumer so it the idea of being able to project a movie that you have stored on your phone to entertain your children is something that I think many people will take advantage of.

One thing that we were promised with the rollout of 3G networks was more use of video calls. I really don't think this has even started to materialize on most networks and this is really down to the costs of the call which can be quite expensive at times. In order to really make this a standard service providers really need to reduce their costs and the cost to the consumer for this type of service.

Other crazy things that may happen in the future is that network service providers may give us free phones. I can see them financing these deals as the phone the giveaway will be sponsored and possibly rounded to a particular marketing campaign that they are running. The way they would justify making money on this is to brand the phone and also you agree to receive advertising via text messaging and video throughout the day a week this way they can recoup the costs of the handset and tried to push some marketing campaigns in your way.

Probably the biggest area of growth we will see in the near future is on smartphones. We can already see pricing in this area starting to reduced and the fact that touchscreen smartphones are becoming more affordable and also becoming a standard has got to be the future. Smartphones have more computing can capabilities so more and more applications are being produced all the time. We just have to take a quick look at the iPhone and how the Apple application store is producing so many downloads of applications and games and music this has got to be probably in the short term the biggest growth area for cell phone manufacturers.

Macbook Air - Review

When we refer to computers, we all know what an Apple is. We are also sure of what Macbook is. So what in the world is an Apple Macbook Air? In quite simplistic terms as listed by Apple, it is the Worlds Thinnest Notebook Computer. Now that is quite a statement. I mean notebooks have been shrinking for years to the point that they are small enough to almost fit and go anywhere. So let's look at the Macbook Air and see what the hoopla is all about.

The unit was unveiled on the 15th of January 2008 at the Macworld Convention and was an immediate hit with the public despite the fact that in order to make it so thin and portable, certain traditional notebook features have had to be left off the actual unit.

If you look at the unit the first thing that you will probably notice is that there is no removable drive medium. Meaning there is no CD or DVD attached. Instead the drive as well as other things area available via high speed USB connection, which means that they don't need to take up space and add size and weight and for the majority of the time it is just an addition of wasted space and weight. You can also use the included software to allow you to access another drive on other computers so that you might not even need to purchase an additional drive.

This is a true sub-compact computer in every sense of the word. But there are some things missing that you should be aware of which may or may not be of importance in the unit depending on how you use it. In addition to the lack of optical drive, there is no Ethernet port so you will need a USB version to hook to a network, there are no accessory card slots for expansion and there is no Firewire port so that video and expanded Hard Drives that utilize this connection can not be used on the Macbook Air.

Another possible drawback, depending on your needs and usage patterns is that the Macbook Air comes with non-upgradeable ram. Granted it is two full gigabytes of ram, but you can never add more to it. So if you have huge ram intensive programs you might be testing the limits of the Macbook Air when you get to really pushing it.

Another thing that could potentially be seen as a draw back is that everything is permanently housed in the unit so nothing is user serviceable. That includes, as mentioned above, the ram, the hard drive and the battery. All of these are hard soldered to the motherboard inside the unit. This can be a good thing because it lightens the weight and makes it less likely that a failure based on use will happen. But from the standpoint of repair costs down the line, it will certainly make those higher.

All in all, the features and size of the Macbook Air may far outweigh the limitations of the built in items and lack of drives for most folks.
